what is malware and its types

So, in this post we are going to learn about what is malware and its types?

What is Malware

Malware is malicious software that infects computers and computer networks with viruses. A malware program interferes with a computer's normal functioning and thus is defined as software designed to access sensitive information by infecting systems and networks with viruses, trojans, and other destructive computer programs. The term malware is the contraction for "malicious software."To remove malware, you must be able to identify malicious actors quickly. i hope you are getting this points of what is malware and its types ? lets continue then.

The presence of malware will inevitably infiltrate your network. It is therefore imperative that you have a network defense system that provides visibility and breach detection. If you wish to remove malware, you must be able to identify malicious actors quickly.

Invading, damaging, or debilitating computers, computer networks, tablets, and mobile devices, malware seeks to take control of a device's operations by taking over partial control. It interferes with normal operation, just as the flu interferes with our lives.

The term malware (short for "malicious software") refers to a file or code that is typically distributed over the internet that infects, explores, steals, or performs virtually any activity an attacker desires. Since malware comes in so many variations, there are many ways to infect computer systems.

Thus, to ask the question whether malware and viruses are different misses the point a bit: a virus is a type of malware, and all viruses are malware (but not all malware is a virus).

Types Of Malware

As described by Symantec, malware can be divided into a number of different classifications based on how it spreads. You've likely heard the terms virus, trojan, and worm interchangeably, but these three terms describe three subtly different methods by which it can infect its victims.

virus :

Computer viruses are software programs that overwrite other standalone programs with their own code, causing them to take malicious actions.

One group of malware is viruses, which consist of malicious software attached to documents and files and which use macros to execute code to spread from host to host. Once downloaded, they remain dormant until the document or file is opened and used.Viral infections are designed to disrupt a system's ability to function. As a result, viruses can disrupt operations and damage data.

worm :

Worms and viruses are pieces of malicious software that reproduce themselves and spread from computer to computer.Malicious software is called a worm because it has the ability to replicate itself rapidly and spread across a network. Worms do not require host programs in order to reproduce.

By downloading a file or connecting to a network, a worm infects a device before multiplying and dispersing at an exponential pace. Worms like viruses can cause severe disruptions in operations and loss of data.

Trojan Virus :

A trojan is a program that does not work by itself, but instead tries to impersonate something the user wants, so they will activate it and spread the program.Despite appearing as helpful software programs, Trojan viruses steal sensitive information from users, and can then modify, block, or delete the information.

Trojans are not designed to replicate themselves, which means that they can severely damage the device's performance.

Spyware :

The term spyware refers to a form of malicious software which runs on a computer in the background and transmits data back to a remote server. Rather than simply disrupting a device, spyware targets sensitive information and can allow remote control.

In addition to botnets, adware, backdoor behavior, keyloggers, data theft, and net-worms, this is malware that collects information about the infected computer and sends it back to the attacker.

Keyloggers are a type of spyware that records your keystrokes and reveals passwords and personal information through spyware. They are used to steal financial or personal information.

Ransomware :

Malicious software called ransomware locks up sensitive information in a computer, encrypts it in order to prevent access by the user, and then demands a financial payment to unlock the data.

The runsomware is usually part of a phishing scam. When a user clicks a disguised link, he or she downloads the ransomware. The attacker then encrypts specific information that can only be opened by a mathematical key the attacker knows. After payment, the encrypted information is returned.

I hope after reading this article you get complete knowledge of what is malware and its types? if you like this post must share it with needy one.
